Is there such a thing as a digital XLR?

I never heard of one but I'm usually wrong about such stuff. Anybody everf seen such a thing? I prefer rolling my own cables when possible. Thanks.

AES/EBU, a differential/balanced version of the galvanic s/pdif is not seldom transferred via an ordinary 3 pin XLR connector.

Indeed no. It is used for digital audio just like RCA is. Both not being the best for the purpose.

Practicaly AES/EBU is only a few MHz so special connectors are not required. I used cat5e and standard connectors for a 30m run with no issues (not quite the right pair impedance but close enough).
