Curious, why APE?

Since WAV is much easier to make, is the same format as CD, if you only support APE might as well support others (FLAC, MPC, Windows/Apple lossless) or it'd be a pain to convert from one to another,

And if space is a concern, if got money to spend on dedicated HDD player, then got money to spend $100 for another TB. 😉 Since lossless doesn't really compress much anyway. And you get to save on processing power and programmng there.

Interested to hear about your plan though. Something like an MP3 player but is wall-powered and has good outputs?

In fact ,i have done a lot of work on it.

Tht main cpu ig an ARM9, at9sam9g20,it has 400+ mips speed.
via its iis interface , the DAC is PCM1794.Now the music can be
played in the U disk or TF card. And OS is linux with 2.6.27 kernel.

All hardware may be under $100.

Finally the forum upgrade is complete.

Shed me more info, I'm all ears. Internal I2S through PCB tracks or via cables to a separate PCB for the DAC chip? Analogue stage and power supply? Ethernet connection possible (for Linux "sound card over ethernet")?

Most importantly, what can we get for $100 including/excluding shipping?
