Is there another Girl from Ipanema?

For nearly 30 years, I have enjoyed the Getz/Gilberto first LP and now CD.

Fluid soft rhythmic vocal and instrumental sounds can not be beat, and I found out tonight the lady singer never sang professionally before the recording, she was the wife of one of the musicians...

Is there a similar CD?, soft jazz, bossa nova like?, sure like to have others with similar recording.

thanks,

gychang

The Girl From Ipanema is a great song, but only the beginning of the long lasting Bossa Nova movement. Many factors, besides its obvious musical qualities, contributed to its fame, including the fact that it was inspired by a real life person.

Very easy on the eyes indeed. And her daughter... well, never mind.

There is plenty more in the same style. Try Rosa Passos, I am sure you will love it.

Joao Gilberto 1961

i'm unsure if that is the real album name, my brother gave it to me years ago and i've been hooked on bossa nova ever since. I keep coming back to this album though. the simplicity allows the beauty of the language and style to shine through.

I have several Antonio Carlos Jobim albums, however, I'm at work, and don't know what I might have that's not ripped. Here's the ones that I have that are ripped:

Passarim
Quiet Now: Nights of Quiet Stars

Actually, neither of these has 'Girl From Ipanema', but, these are good and have other songs that you may recognize. The second album is all in Portugese, if that makes any difference.

Gychang. I have seen you post on the ClassD forum and (I think the Full Range forum). Try a Modded Sonic T, Fostex 206 Horns and to put in the C.D player...........

An album by Gabriella Anders (sorry forgotten the title - but will look tonight) She does a blinding version of The Girl from Ipanema. Produced by legendary producer Paul Brown (he is mainly a jazz producer, Boney James, Rick Braun, Larry Carlton, Bob James. The rest of the album is sheer class. Great recording and your Hi Fi will sound greattttt.

A good DVD is Casino Lights 1999 where Gabriella Anders joins Gerorge Duke, Larry Carlton, Kirk Whalum, Kenny Garrett and a host of other stars.
