I trying to find a 17” LCD that display lower resolution in there native res. That mean if PC out is 1024*786 the LCD will show black bars on top, bottom, left and right. Resulting in1:1 mapping with black par filling the area.
Is there a way to prevent the LCD from (stretching) scaling the image to 1280*1024 res. either by software or a monitor that has an option of keeping the native res. Without stretching.
The idea behind that is to use a 17” LCD with 12.2” fresnel and to make your pc to out a 1024*786 and the image will be perfect for the fresnel size.
I am planning to use a BENQ FP767-12 or Acer AL1721 (are they diyable).
Please help me to find answer to stretching issue.

PowerStrip is a software soulution if you plan on driving you PJ with a PC. Some monitors will automaticly, or at least via an OSD option, output the correct apect ratio of the source without scaling. Unfortunatly, I do not have experience with either of the monitors your looking into.
the envision 17 and 19" will do
I'm currently having the envision 19" lcd and it has option to prevent scaling.
