I am working on a Harman Kardon 330C receiver for a friend, he put the wrong bulb in the FM stereo light and fried the power supply transistor Q1 (2SD414) for the tuner board. I found Talon Electronics, based in Virgina, on a Google search. They have a few of these in stock for a good price.

I have never heard of them I wondered if anyone here has purchased from them.
I am also considering BD237 or MJE243 from Digikey but an exact replacement would be preferable.

Anything of sufficient voltage rating in a TO-126 package with ECB pinout should work for your application. Both Digi-key and the Mouse have plenty of the necessary - just be careful to select a transistor of sufficient voltage rating.
The VCB rating of the 2SD414 is 120V, the BD237 and MJE243 are 100V. It will never see more than 20-25V anyway. It follows the rectifiers after the AC lamps and the 8vac winding. The hFe of the 2sd414 is 60-200 depending on the type (R or Q). The 243 and 139 are 40.Anything of sufficient voltage rating in a TO-126 package with ECB pinout should work for your application. This is the one for you

It has a 160V VCE rating.
