Is laminated pine good for cabinet?

I've messed around with it somewhat.

To be honest, and perhaps I did something wrong here or maybe it was just the pine I had, I wasn't impressed at all. Pine is a softwood and is prone to warping when continual heating and cooling is applied ie. when its in your home.

After a few months I noticed some of the joints had spread, not a massive issue but if you aren't careful the box could start to leak, particularly if its sealed.

Eitherway I haven't gone back to it and the cabinet is now binned, replaced by an MDF version.

Stick to what you know is what I say.

If you laminate enuff thin layers together you end up with plywood... Birch is usually the recommended pre-built variaty.

If you want to laminate lots of thin layers building up a west system cedar enclosure is something i always thot would work well.

Tim Forman's 1st bipolar 1197 ML-voigts were made from pine shelving and they were stunning. These had small panels thou.

Usually soild wood is not the best material to build a speaker out of, but with wood that has been aged long enuff, excellent results can be had. I'. listening to s set of ML-Voigts based on Tim's design built by a craftsmen out of Douglas Fir that has been aging for about 100 years... they are stunning looking and quite good sounding.
