Is it worth trying to fix?

Hi,

I found an old "Digitech AA0505" 75WRMS stereo amp in the garage.
I was gifted this years ago and recall it always suffered from distortion.

I'd like to have a go at repairing this but I have not been able to find a circuit diagram on the 'net.

Any assistance or hints where to start would be gratefully received.

Cheers

You might get a class D amp board from eBay that will fit the case.
It must suit your power pack voltage.
The jacks and controls would need routing to suit the housing which might not be easy.

First step is test what you have and report actual faults not remembered ones.

Hi,

I obviously wasn't clear, I plugged it in yesterday and the output is distorted.
It was sitting in my garage for a couple years.
I recall it was like this when I got it.

I'd like to try and fix it if possible rather than replace it.

I will email Jaycar head office but I'm not confident they'll have a schematic.

Cheers

I meant that I wouldn't attempt a class D diagnostic and repair and since you were asking where to start I figured your diagnostic skills were no better than mine.
If it has an input buffer then diagnose if the distortion is before or after the input buffer.
No point diagnosing class D faults if the fault is in a preceding analogue stage.
