Are film caps worth it if they are so old ?
If you have the cap, wrap it with a few layers of paper ( to protect the outer layers) and measure the capacitance while you bring a soldering iron near it. If the capacitance increases it is a polyester cap and a polyprop if the capacitance goes down. Don't have to heat too much. You might burn the cap !

Thanks for the answer.Old film caps (for example mullard or siemens caps) are used for guitar equipment to get vintage sound and some of them are extremely expensive(1-5-10-50 USD) I sell them so it is worth 🙂
They are either polycarbonate or mylar. I have slightly newer versions of these caps (white or yellow wrapper instead of clear), and they are mylar.Hello.Is there anyone who can identify these capacitors?

But Siemens began the manufacturing of general purpose film caps with Makrolon (PC), and then switched to Hostaphan (PET) in the early seventies.
They are certainly not PS.
