Am I the only one that keeps on overusing the clear silicon (or, gasp, JB Weld Kwik) on "finished" projects, telling myself that there is no way I'm going to take it back apart for any reason. Even though I made everything so small and tight that there is no way to truly test it without fully assembling it, and therefore ending up calling it "done", and therefore using the "stuff" on it?
Am I the only one who's spent hours pulling crap off boards with needle nose pliers to get to the components underneath? Especially that particular 0.047uF poly cap, the only one I can find anywhere (at 2:00 AM).
At least I socket all the opamps, and can pull those on a moments notice.
Am I the only one who stubbornly sits for hours trying to do something with the wrong tools? Even though I could run to the store, buy the right tool, be back and finished in the same amount of time it would take to finish it with the wrong tool? Not to mention shorten the amount of time used every time I do that task again in the future?
Am I the only on that keeps telling myself that I should "write a note to myself" to remember some of this stuff, but just never get around to it? Am I the only one who keeps doing the same (OK, similar) stupid stuff over and over?
Am I the only one who keeps using repurposed resources, not as a way to save the earth or be clever that way, but because I am too thrifty to justify expenses of any large amount for a hobby that I love and takes up a large percentage of my time? It christmas when I find components being thrown aw-, er, donated to me. I drool when I find a cool old radio or TV at a garage sale, especially when its the last day of the garage sale and the item has spider webs on it.
Am I the only one who knows enough not to kill themselves with 110 (or 220) and sometimes make stuff work, but not enough to full grasp what some of these people are talking about?
Am I the only one who doesn't know how to make a post that is less than 3 paragraphs, and includes way more information than most people want to read?

Hot melt here, dries faster.
Yeah, hot melt indeed. I have the blisters/scars to prove it. It's how we used to seal Infinity 1001s in production, too.
No it's not just You.... 😀 I just thought I was cheap not thrifty though. I think all of those reasons are why a lot of us are here.
LOL, I feel better already. I'm going to have to break down and buy a new- er, steal my son's hot melt gun 🙂
It sounds like you're talking XOs, bSC filters or such - in the few cases were I build those, I'll generally use zap straps and screw down saddles and solder terminal strips. Sure it costs more time and money than "potting" with glue or silicone, and takes up more space, but modifying is so much easier.
