I think it is German made, has a bronze platter with rubber mat and is quite funky looking.
I am the proud owner of one as of today and any information would be appreciated.

Old post, I know. I have one that I bought new from Audio Ark in Edmonton. I was told that it was designed by a guy that worked on the Canadarm. Mine has a Hadcock carbon fibre arm. I have never had a problem with the bearing and have only replace belts.
Brass is not magnetic.
Doesn't matter what the platter material is, if there are two opposing magnet rings which provide the levitation.

Maybe it's time to check the thrust pad.

I have not noticed any symptoms but I will check the thrust pad out. Is it possible to repair this?

Good question. I've never seen one, and google just turns up others looking for info, with no replies. I'm assuming it's a standard style turntable bearing with a ball bearing (or radiused shaft) running on a thrust plate/pad of some unknown material.
Here's your opportunity to show the internet what the bearing configuration actually is.
