I was wondering about the possibility of creating an F4T version, say with 40 volt rails...... Any chance of that working?

If you don't have the preamp to swing that kinda gain, then you really should be looking at a BA-3. The output section is identical to the F4, (with more Mosfets easily added) , you can scale up the volts to 40 with little issue, just the front-end will need a simple cascode circuit (look at the F5T FE) to protect the Jfets.
The BA3C looks exceptional... I think I would like to make a balanced version. I am just slow to get started....
The higher voltages are attractive, due to the higher energy storage in the power supply --- it varies with voltage sqaured. So even if the F4 does not use the full rail to rail swing, there may be a benefit to going there...
