One Big Reflector

What would be wronh with making a kind of light chamber? With your lamp down the bottom as pictured, and the sides covered with reflective mylar. You would have to construct it to make sure no light escaped.

Doesn't matter what would happen to the light beams coz they don't have anywhere to go. It may not be 100% as you would need fans and vents where light could possibly escape.

Another thing is you wouldnt need the condenser because the light leaves the lamp at every angle, so assuming the chamber is made with flat surfaces there would be no focal point and no hotspots. It would also mean that the diffusing of light would be even across the fresnel.

I have tried it and it seems to simple to work, but what specifically is wrong with it?

if you use mylar try to keep atleast 8" from the bulb or it will melt it
you still have to have the bulb at the focal of the rear fresnel or it will never work

Bulbs..

Hello guys, I'm writing here cause I don't think opening new thread could be correct for my question:
I just want to know if I can use also a HQI-T by OSRAM as light source for my diy prj or HQI-TS is a "must"???Are there some important different features after K, and dimensions to take in consideration? I will use a benq fp567s and diylabs split fresnel, condenser and triplet.

Special thanks

Michele
