Hi all! I am new in this forum. I wish to build PASS Aleph 5 and preamplifier. But in my country is not possible to find IRF9610. Here are avalable other types - IRF9620, 30, 40. The question is: What type to use (for Aleph5, and for AlephP1.7) ? It is possible?
Thank you in advance!

You can try the 9620, but stay away from the higher numbered ones as they are not intended as linear devices. 9510 if available should also work well. Indeed IRF recommended to me that their parts were not qualified for linear work at all which clearly must have been a misunderstanding on their part. Most people, however regard japanes semiconductors as much better for audio than others. Aim for a low-tech 200V (high voltage, low capacitance) low current device from Hitachi etc. or check if Zetex offers anything. You are only dissipating a few watts at most. Your search can start with devices that have high on-resistance (several ohms).
For the preamp, you could go with JFET's, for example 2SK170 or it's p-channel equivalent as long as you watch out for power consumption.

Hi.Can we use IRFR9214 ? I can supply from our supplier now before he sell them(it may be soon i am afraid) .They also have IRF9620 now but i want to ask which will be better. Thanks
Use IRF9610pbf. I just ordered a pile of them today for matching.Hi.Can we use IRFR9214 ? I can supply from our supplier now before he sell them(it may be soon i am afraid) .They also have IRF9620 now but i want to ask which will be better. Thanks
Nelson, you are the keeper of the Harris stock. Not listed at all now at Rochester no matter what you search for. They do show IRF9510 Harris with 10,000 in stock.
A google search does not reveal any other source for these Harris parts either.

Good to hear ZM - only problem is minimum buy amount of 428 pieces for the 9510, where do they come up with these numbers?
Any thoughts on a Harris IRF9620 Zen Mod or Nelson?

Rochester has a min order quantity of ~$250 per line item so that's where that weird quantity comes from.
Same problem with Harris IRF520/9520 for Mini ACA. Only available from Rochester. Minimum amount to buy: 902! 😵
Why not consider FQP3P20 to use in place of IRF9610? It's readily available and already used in the BA3 FE so it's a known quantity.
Because Nelson didn't say so. 😛
And thousands of Vishay (original) IRF9610 in stock at Mouser.
But Nelson said Harris. 😉

just use whichever you can lay hand on
replace later with Kosher, when you get it
in general - lower number of IRF means lesser voltage, thus lesser capacitances
my choice is 510/9510 exactly from these reasons
with time I realized that sound difference between Kosher ones and ready available ones isn't worth hassle of getting later ones
my ears, my stance
Nelson is in other story - he's buying at once quantities which would last me lifetime

Works fine. I have used it elsewhere. Why not consider FQP3P20 to use in place of IRF9610? It's readily available and already used in the BA3 FE so it's a known quantity.
FQP3P20 datasheet also says it is for audio amplifier.Maybe more linear than others listed here.
