Well the average GC PSU is a pretty crappy floating ground jobby, if it works for you, thats all that counts for now.

What do you mean?

I mean if the output of the DC-DC converter and/or added filter is not clean enough and/or has too high output resistance, you can improve it with a linear (as opposed to switching) regulator, though this will eat some volts.
