Hi y’all, I’m Maurice from Canada. I love music and love listening to it on good equipment, meaning I like it to sound good. My dad got me into this, growing up listening to vinyl. The problem is imo, the quality of the products has been on a steady decline as I’ve had 3 receivers and all three have had problems. 2 Marantz and 1 anthem. So I’m here about the anthem max 710. I’m pretty handy and don’t want to pay to fix it. So I need help, I had the anthem playing music, loud -2 dcb, and it suddenly stopped working. When I turn it on now it immediately shuts off. I have opened it and cannot see any obvious faults. Any ideas?
Welcome to diyAudio Maurice 🙂
I'd never heard of Anthem but just looking and it seems quite an upmarket product. Having looked at images of them I'm going to see... its likely not an easy fix. You would need to come up with service manuals. The symptoms sound like a classic case of 'output stage failure' and with no info I don't even know what technology it uses. It may be Class D (a switching type amp) rather than traditional Class AB output stages. Either way its almost certainly going to be a complex repair.
