im using a teac t1 transport at the moment,and i also have alot of dead cd players lying around ,marantz to name but one,anyway i was wondering and excuss my ignorance,but is it possible to tap into the on board dacs inside these dead cd plays(mainly laser issues on the dead cd players).
i realise im proberly being very simplistic,but if i fed these in board dacs power,then as a rule would it be possible to tap into them somewhere on the board and use them as a dac to my teac,mainly to try out the various flavors that i have!
if so can anyone tell me where to begin,where to look or info on this,i realise there wont be one general set up as every machine,dac and board will be different,just need to know if its possible and some general guideline,starter points.
any advice would be gratefully recieved

the main ones im intrested in is the marantzs,quite like there sound...
the players are marantz cd6000ki and marantz cd63se.
mind you saying that ive been following the world fever on nos tda1543 dacs and am very curious to hear one of them.
im not techincal minded,and i understand little,but im trying to grasp it,read that you can trace the output from the player ie i2s and another that begins with e or something(if possible with the teac any idea what it would be?)and make a direct connection to the dac chip so cutting out the reciever chip and heaps of jitter,like the idea of less in the signal path!

I'd start with CD63SE as I have the service manual and it is floating around the forum somewhere. The most universal option would be to add phono connector and a SPDIF receiver like the CS8412 or 4 devices. Less user friendly but possibly superior soundwise, would be to buffer the I2S signals and send them directly to the CD63SE.
As to the CD6000KI, I don't much about it but I would have thought it would not differ greatly, in terms of what needed doing, from the CD63SE.
If you plan to start with the CD63 you'll need this.

thanks for response and info and not to mention the manual.
i go this route first i think regarding the marantz cd63,if i kill it through trying then at least there as cheap as hell to get another faulty one and carry on my steep learning curve till i get it right(hopefully).
