I should be more precise.

AFAIK the UJN parts are reliable, but the linear performance of the ones
I tested was not particularly good.

The Cascode parts from Transphorm failed at 24V/2A, and looking at the
data sheet I did not see a DC SOA figure, only switching.

A similar issues have come up with some high power "hockey puck" power
transistors, referred to as "electrothermal instability".

So for starters I recommend being careful of parts that don't have a DC
figure on their SOA curves. The rest is just about whether they show
decently low distortion in audio use.
 
I can confirm that if you run them outside the DC safe operating area they
will croak rather quickly.

Apart from that, I don't believe we have lost any on XA-25's.

The data sheet sez 700 watts at 25 deg C case temperature.
