I don t see your point Sumotan.
Here is mine for the ph230/8": Ph230 have 90°x90° covering and cutoff frq of 600hz from spec. At about 1200hz they sould have reached the covering pattern so if you xover them at this freq or up it is ok for 90° coverage. A 8" should match 90° at around 1600hz/1700hz. So if you x over at 1,7khz or 1,8khz it should be ok ( from a directivity point). You may have to deal with break up though... depend from the woofer.
