I dont understand Chuck, why is there a ^ shape in front of the driver ? Why does this cabinet look this way ?

This is simply a Karlson enclosure. Some folks still experiment with these today, though I believe the design is from back in the 50s or 60s. It's said to work very well when correctly implemented. Some use them for bass units, and others for full rangers.
I've never heard one, but it would seem to me the front bit would help load the front of the driver, while the chamber loads the rear. In theory, this is how drivers should be, unlike most BLHs for instance that only load the rear of the driver.
You can see a similar theory used in Zu Cables new sub. Though I'd imagine the Karlson offers some sort of resonance in the front chamber as well. It is interesting and different.

They look very nicely built. Throw a pair of vintage 12" coax drivers in there, Bob's your uncle. 😎

Well the shape and such has been described here by these great guys. As for how Palm Bay is doing in way of hurricanes this year...nothing but rain from them. I do know what it is like to get hammered though and my condolences go out to you all. Last year with two being pretty much direct hits and a third that reached out and flicked the back of our ears so to say, I ended up losing my house and quite a bit of it's contents. FEMA and Intersil (wife's employer) took great care of us though and things are close to being back to normal a year later. Still catching up on bills and the like though as things like natural disasters can put a monetary pinch on you real quick.
Keep your head up and smile when you can, and if there is anything I can do let me know. I have room and board here for a couple or single parent and child if need be.
