Please wait till audition is done and configuration is finalised.
In any case the PCBs will only be a fraction of the total cost.
A 2107 heatsink case is already 50USD including shipment.
2x 25VA toroidal transformer is another 30USD.
1x ALPS ~ 15USD.
RCA's, headphone output socket (we recommend 5-pin mini XLR9, ......
25 pairs Sankens 60 USD, 100 pairs Toshiba 30USd, .....
You should be looking at ~ 350 USD for a serious build with good quality components, and matched devices.
If we decide to use Didden regulators then the bill will go up significantly.
For comparison, a seriously built F5-HA with all its simplicity is around 500 USD.

So you are NOT using a JFET buffer upfront (2SK209GR) ?
You then need to make sure your source (or pot) is low impedance.

Note that the 2SK209 source follower has one of the lowest input capacitances while still very low noise.
It also has a decent Yfs at ~ 12mS.
A even better choice than a 2SK170 or LSK170 IMHO.
