Im just about to buy 2 12" subs and an amp from a friend for 60 bucks. I have a 1995 Saturn SL2 with pioneer speakers, and stock head unit. My head unit has no RCA outputs, but i heard of a way to run the sub w/ the rear speakers. Is this ture? Thanks

What you need is a Line Output Converter. 20 or 30 bucks depending on where you get it from.

This seems just what I have been looking for.
I wish to add a sub or subs to a system that uses a passive preamp into a Charlize T-amp.
Am I to assume that this schematic will allow me to take off a line output from my loudspeaker terminals without affecting the speaker's performance?

If you have knowledge of electronics or audio, open your HU & find connection between pre-amp & output -amp.Than connect shelded cable & on the ather side RCA connector( S ).
This is very PROFESIONAL & is very cheap !!!!!

That schematic should not be used. Many speaker negatives will have DC voltage on them. Still others will have signal. Many amplifiers will have problems accepting either. Depending on the amp and the signal source, this could cause severe (expensive) damage to the signal source.

I've used the circuit loads of times, the only issue would be car audio, here you' be adding DC blocking capacitors.If the unit is under warranty, we don't want to be taking equipment apart do we?

As Perry said the circuit should not be used for car head units. As a bodge a third resistor can be added to avoid/minimise the damage to the head unit and not inject so much garbage into the amp ground, but a transformer is the only real way to do it. But a good transformer that performs in the bass is not cheap nor small.
