What I try to say is that the connectors at the edge of the cables are really of few important in the audio quality of the signal transported, more important are the electrical characteristics of the cable itself, usually the length is far bigger, and the low pass effect (loss of treble notes) in a long or high capacitance cable) is responsability of the cable, nor the connectors.
And, both together with the Thevenin´s theorem gives an resistance in the circuit. The capacitance in the cable shunts this resistance giving a susceptance in // to the input conductance (inverse of the input resistance), forming a frequency sensible voltage divider, creating a low pass filter and a phase delay in the wire,
This was the difficult part ... I realise the cable itself has more influence on the interlink behaviour.

I believe that cable influence is sensitive about of the design of a chain of electronic sets. Try the best audio chain using a twisted power cord a cable for interconnect them. Or a TV lined to a camera using 300R unshielded cables. The well designer must take into account all details.
Of course a cable has to be appropriate. I didn't mean proper engineering details such as digital interconnect characteristic impedance, but the silly things which some audiophiles get excited about. To make a relatively short connection from a competently-designed preamp to a competently-designed power amp you can use any competently-built appropriate interconnect cable. If you want extra distortion or interference then you need to buy an expensive cable or make your own.
Mmmm, I disagree. I make my own interconnection wires, and no distortion, no more noise than a commercial one, using normal pieces (Here, in Argentina, imported materials are restricted by our "presidenta", so no option).
Sorry, I was referring to those who make their own because they fondly believe that the companies who make them on advanced machinery are somehow incompetent. If you can't obtain cables then I guess you have to make your own - and I assume you know what you are doing, anyway.
