Hi Guys (and Gals?),
I'm completely new to this forum and am going to ask a question which I know crops up a fair bit so I apologise (and I know it's not really in keeping with the whole DIY thing).
I own an InFocus SP4805 projector which has served me well for over 2 years.
My trouble is the last two lamps blew within 6 months (around 450 hours usage) of installation.
I keep the filters clean and the room is not that hot or dusty.
I've searched and searched the internet but I guess these projector companies have the monopoly on replacement lamps and to a certain degree it looks like they are price fixing something which is in essence a cheap mercury bulb.
My question is this...
Is there a cheaper alternative to purchasing the InFocus standard part (SP-LAMP-021) which retails in the UK at around £260 sterling ($510 US)
Surely there's a factory somewhere kicking out bog standard 200watt mercury bulbs which average joe public can buy from?
I look forward to any help or alternatives.
Best regards
Kyle Harrison, Leeds, UK

Well I was in the same boat as you and I got tired of the bulb game,Those projectors have a great image but lousy bulb life,
So what I did was I used google and I found www.projectorcentral.com
and that is the best place to find info on commercial PJs , so what i did was purchase an epson powerlte lcd PJ and replacement lamps cost around $150.00 usd and last 3,000 hours which is a pretty good deal.
so if I were you I would dump that money pit and get an epson or optima which have better bulb life and you can also look up reviews on other PJs and not get burned,

the bran-new SHP bulb is out of stock, I have no anyone, and can not get it again.
I have JYS/DC only, about 70-80 brightness as bran-new SHP . but it is cheaper and can work in ballast of SHP. $40 each.
shipping is $15 if your that is a lamp kit

Projector Bulb for InFocus
Am looking for a replacement bulb for an InFocus 4805 projector. The bulb assembly number is SP-LAMP-021. I took the assembly apart and found that the bulb number is SHP58.
Anybody know where to get a new bulb or bulb assembly? Best price I've found online is $300- seems pretty expensive.

Bulb for InFocus
I'm interested in buying a bulb from you. I tried to send an email with a couple pictures of my bulb and also a drawing to your email address, but got an error message. I'd like to make sure you have the correct bulb before I buy it.
Is you email address in the post correct? If so, I'll try again.

I'll try emailing some pictures and a drawing of my bulb to your email address. Can you confirm that your bulb is the same size, same electrical connector as mine?

I am also looking for a bulb for a Sp4805 Please reply ASAP. Could up also tell Me what kind of Lumen's one would expect to see. Thanks in advance!
Well the lumens should be the similar. In fact my 250W AC LV Bulb from LumenArc for my Mitsubishi HC900 seemed brighter than the old lamp. That could be because the lamp dims before they die. Had it since mid January and put 65 Hours. The alignment is a bit annoying as I had to remove it twice and start again. The only downside is that the delivery a bit slow but I won't be complaining as it was well worth the wait. I'm looking at getting an SP5700 but early days yet. Are Infocus's reliable?
Infocus
I would say so. In the life of my projector I would say I had two issues. The color shattered two days before my warranty was to be up. Great as it worked out to be a free repair. The 2nd would be that the bulb blew out during Monday night football in Nov of the 09 season, but the same bulb had been In use since Dec. Of 2003 so I wasn't to mad the time was coming.
I would say my usage of the unit was moderate to heavy at times. Football season saw the heaviest usage the off season was prob cut it's use to about half the norm.
