infocus lp425z, replacing just the bulb?

ok, so i picked up one for free. the lamp did work about 2 years ago, and wasn't started up after we had it working then.

the bulb still looks good, but even still when you turn it on everything seems to work perfect, but the lamp never turns on.

the bulb looks like a overhead projector bulb...just at 270watt...

is there any way i could swap it for something else...even less or more wattage but cheaper! much much cheaper!?

anyone know? they are the same as lp420 and 435's i think as well

btw, first post...i've got the same name on lumenlab forums...

thanks for any help you can give...

dan

i did find the post about tricking this projector into thinking there is a lamp there...i'm just wanting to know if something might work to keep the look the same...

ywh,

i'm not sure yet, i'll try and get my multi-meter back and check out what the lamp is, didn't know they made two different types...my guess would be AC...

the electrode i think is the same for both, i'll double check that in the morning...3rd shift is a fun time to work 😉

thanks for the response and i'll try to get you better anwsers tomorrow

ok, well i took the lamp assembly out but couldn't find any markings about it being AC or DC, any way to know by looking at it? i can't get a multi-meter for a little bit...

and the electrode...it seems like it has just one? i took a picture of it, but forgot to upload it to photobucket before i left.

when i searched online it looked like it either came with the squad light or the round light. i have the round lamp. (any help?)

any picture of where the GDT is located at? i think this maybe my problem...and wouldn't mind using up the rest of the lamps life before i try to rig something up in its place.

thanks
dan

before you run off and get another lamp, you need to check the ballasts. the ballasts in those f*ckers are bad for blowing spark gap electrodes, and wont start the lamp.

anyway, those lamps are DC lamps, ive repaired enough ballasts to know. about 75V during run.

Hi, I have an Infocus LP435Z and have a similar problem. Recently I buyed a lamp from diypro.us, an JYs-SE lamp (Single-ended) de 280W/DC.

The proyector starts OK shorting the pins 4-5 of the lamp connector

no warning lights or sounds. And when I connect the lamp, the lamp doesnt starts. Nothing happens, the proyector starts as usual but the lamp doesnt fire up

You said that it could be the ballast, is there any way to fix it to work with the lamp?

Thanks and regards

Unfortunately this projector is too old to find service info on the Infocus Website. They usually stop supporting their units after 4-5 years. Projector Doctor is a source of service if you cannot get anywhere by yourself and DIY. good luck
