Hey im new here and im not sure if this if what im writing is allowed but i seen somethings that look like this might be the place to correct my situation. I got a used Infocus IN35 projector and i am unsure if its overheating. I am not sure how hot the machines can get but i put my hands near the fans and god you dont want to leave them there to long or they burn off lol. Well its not that hot but it does get hot enough. Also i have read around other sites about smells of projectors and i am unsure if this again is caused by overheating or the lamp. The lamp is very new so i wouldnt say its the lamp. The smell is almost like a burning smell. BTW the system runs fine i have had it running for an hour now with the system i believe going into standby once with in that time. The reason why im asking is if the heating and smell is bad?
Thanks
Eric

they do get really hot. The In35 has got very good cooling with large vents on each side and big enough fans. The projector would just shut off if there is insufficient cooling to the fan as most Infocus projectors have a thermal sensor near the lamp area.
Because the projector is used, I would recommend that youget a vacuum cleaner on the vents on each side. The burning smell could just be general dust. Also, the lamps on hese projectors are very small and the lamp housing has filter which have very tiny pinholes. Remove the lamp and vacuum the filters and the lamp itself so you can get increased airflow for cooling.
