Info needed on Foster drivers

Hi,

I recently bought Sears professional series speakers because of the Foster drivers that it has, that I believe can be of decent quality. The speakers as they are now sound abysmal. The sealed enclosure seems too small, creating boomy and shallow bass and awkward imaging due to the two tweeters places as they are.

The woofers are Foster part# 300L02-26 and the tweeters are Foster 035N03-16. I could not find any info online on those units. If anyone knows anything about them, it'd be useful. Thanks!

I scored a 4" Foster + tweeter from the side of the road, can confirm they sound good;
Best bet is to measure them yourself:

The tweeters in these are quite well respected -- i had been buying these to resell the tweeters on eBay. They come in a 45 w & a 60 watt version (yours are the 45 w version). They would usually fetch some 30-50 USD/pr leaving me with essentially free woofers (i have over 20 of them)

I built a customer's pair into a push-push aperiodic sub which works extremely well. The enclosure they come in is on the small side to get the most out of them, the sub was made aperiodic of ! the same volume to keep the size down.

I have some measurements (ave of 8 units attached), they seem to have the kind of spec that should be happy in a ripole (drawn but not built).

Measuring the T/S parameters is the first thing I'll do when I get around to this project, once all the others are done! I'll do it and compare to the T/S data you have posted planet10. The kinda high Qts and small-ish enclosure really do explain the boomy bass I heard. The almost 92dB efficiency is what I was guessing as I felt I did not need much power to get some SPL going.

Do you know the approximate efficiency of the tweeter planet10?

I can imagine how scoring 4 tweeters per cabinet pair make for a nice ebay sale. I might keep them for projects. The Sears cabinets are actually quite nicely built I found. Heavy as heck, 1inch thick front baffle, the rest is 3/4.

Btw, do you know of any other Sears Professional speakers that may have nice drivers? I know my GR-10 model also exists under the model number SP-2710. I sometimes also see Sears Pro speakers with non-removable grills and wonder what these might be loaded with...

I tried to look at my post while being logged out of my AK account to see if other non-AKers could see it and assumed it'd work for everyone. Is it just a random fluke I cannot do anything about?

No. But there is an AGS with the same woofer & tweeter & a very nice inverted dome up top.

I've never tried using the cabinets, they do burn nicely.

I have a Sears Pro amplifier/pre-amp/tuner made by Hitachi that are pretty good. With a few tweaks the dual-mono 150W MOSFET power amp is quite nice and what i use on my woofers.
