I bought these, about seven years ago, and I refinished the cabinets. The tweeter, and mids, have 8 ohms when tested. The woofers, had the foam gone. I finally have some Parts Express woofers, ready to put in.
Did you forget to attach the image Bob?
A link to the woofers that you have chosen as substitutes would be of interest.

I have the RS6's and love them. I purchased them new in the early 80's from Sound Advice in Miami. Great bookshelf speakers and I listen to them daily in my "casual" system.
I performed the following mods to very good results:
1. Bypass the trim pots.
2. Bypass the circuit breaker. (optional)
3. Replace all the caps with equal values but with better quality caps.
Your refinishing job looks great.

That's a nice refurbishment Bob, and the Dayton replacement certainly looks the part!
I read that the woofer in the Infinity RS6 operates in a sealed enclosure.
Let us know how well the Dayton 8" performs as a substitute.

I had a pair of RS-3 from about 1984-1994. I went through a couple of replaced subwoofers before I trashed them. This was back before I knew about how much DIY repair options existed. When they worked, they were excellent speakers, but I think one too many playings of Metallica's "Enter Sandman" did them in 😀

Yes, there're sealed, and there wasn't any damping material.

There should be damping material in it. I bought mine new and they had plenty of stuffing. The original was cotton and had collapsed by the time I went in so I replaced it with synthetic pillow stuffing.
Hi - thinking of doing the very same woofer upgrade on the same speakers. How were your results as far as a listening test? Thanks,Let's try uploading pictures, one-more-time, and success! The woofer, is from Parts Express: Dayton Audio RS225P-4A 8" Reference Paper Woofer 4 Ohm
