Apologies that this isn't a DIY speaker per se, but just want to ask that there is this huge 14-ga iron core inductor that's the size of my hand that's in series to the driver.
The driver is prob a LAB12 (seems slightly modded though), pretty cool and low Le. But I suppose this iron core inductor is at least 5mH. I have a TH-112.
I know there is talk that driver inductance affects SQ of drivers, does this coil add on to it? Anyway can I bypass the coil, since I do not see any benefit to it (why would the TH need to have a 1st order LP filter at say 200Hz). Or am I missing anything?

PS. The polyurea coating is really cool. You can throw a small rock at it and not chip anything. 😀

Dont bypass it. It is essential to the design. It modifies the frequency response. This was discussed in the tapped horn thread.
