LoL 🙂 Roadkill of Bangalore! Has someone been reading too much Tolkien?
Well, finding ICs is half the fun IMHO... the rest comes from finding the case, finding proper screws/nuts/washers/bolts, resistors, capacitors... the list is endless.

and the fun will never end if u start asking for non-magnetic metal film resistors. If the fun has ended for anybody in India, kindly let me know. I will be grateful.

Don't want to create a backlash on this almost-dead thread - enquired with amar radio yesterday regarding 3886 and 3875, he just had one 3886 in stock. for some reason, it just looked fake, almost like the lettering had been done by hand... am going back today to ask for 3875. he claims he can get me "as many as I want".
Mr. Palesha, can you vouch for the authenticity of amar radio's parts? it's just a few stores before the masjid, i think?

You may try if you have not done so already the following shop.
Components Masters
1a, Gomantdham, Chunam Lane, Off Lamington Road
Phone: 23826278/56334524/23896420
I purchased some parts (ICs, transistors) from them which were not
available anywhere and they seem to be customer-friendly. They
make complete refund if some part does not work (unless soldered).
But I am not sure some of you may have a completely different
story to tell.
Regards
Roushon.

Thanks Roushon. I'll look them up then, but I have a feeling I'm going to order the audiosector kit instead. I don't mind paying the extra amount for a good quality PCB, all the parts in one place and it saves me the hassle of scourging the market again, since I already have way too many half-completed guitar amp and stompbox projects open, and 4 monoblocks to come too :-/
Dont know if you still need the info but i bought mine (lm3886) from a shop called matrix electronics which is a few shops down from madhu subtronics in of of the lanes leading from the station to lamington rd. they work fine and sound great. i think i paid INR 180 each. he had lm3875 available as well.

I bought from electronicscomps Bangalore. seeing three pieces in stock.
now they say it’s out of stock after taking the money and it’s been 6 days
this information I got today after couple of calls.
Current status awaiting refund.
They may be good but Never gonna buy from them.
Rather pay more and by from mouser next year in February - have My Ref Rev. A stereo board which can be easily modded to Rev C

Nothing 🙂 Hmm...i can feel your pain hehe. Dont worry. Anyway i recommend diyaudiocart, robu, projectpoint & rs component for hobby projects.
If it helps to open up possibilities, check for TDA7293 while browsing in those shops. That chip sounds great and is capable of more power than LM3886. Dibya and Jhofland made
A wonderful sounding free design for it (Gerbers) called the Xmas amp in this thread:

Out of stock here at multinational suppliers like RS, element14, Mouser.
March or so for new supplies.
Seems all Class AB chip amps have the same issue across the world.

Chinese with fake markings is the most likely answer.
If the biggies do not have stock, then where did this Chinese seller get his supply?
And if I have to get an amp, the way I would do it is:
1. Buy a second hand amp.
2. Buy new Indian.
3. Build from Mosfet kit and up, they seem to be in stock.
The Mosfet amps are about 50 quid complete, 80 watts or so, with FM / SD / USB module, and extra input selectors.
Ugly, but functional.
And last I checked the stereo amp kits with about 60 watts were 6 quid for populated PCB.
More important is that the bits are available, not that I have to search the world for some little part and pay whatever the seller feels like charging.
And have them blow up because they are fake.
