You make a good point. And I won't worry about it.
The only instrument that I can think of besides maybe bombs or thunder back in the 50's and 60's would be the low notes on some pipe organs. I have heard thought that even back in the 50's there was a striving to create the amps reasonably flat within the range of 20-20,000 Hz. Those are just comments I've seen made in various threads.
Best,
Phil

In answer to the original question about putting an 8 Ohm speaker on a 16 Ohm tap.
The DCR of the primary, and the DCR of the secondary cause predictable losses in any output transformer.
What ever the loss of the transformer is with 16 Ohms on the 16 Ohm tap, if you put 8 Ohms on the 16 Ohm tap, the losses due to the primary DCR and secondary DCR doubles.

Hi Francois,
I'm actually considering your notions on the Leak transformers being valuable to someone who is into restoring an amp like this. I'll check your link and some prices out there but if I could come up with enough cash for say, the Dynaco ST70 transformer bundle at Triode Electronics (around $600) then I could very well go forward like that and just hand over the transformers/chassis/circuit board as is to someone and go from there.
Myself and someone else could end up in a better place that way possibly.
I'm not interested as much in resorting the Leak Stereo 50 as I am building a new amp for my own application and I'd probably get no benefit over using the Leak transformers at all, over using the new Dynaco replacements.
I'm going to seriously think about this and perhaps put some adds out and see how that goes.
If you have any suggestions to where to advertise what I have, please feel free to let me know.
Best,
Phil Donovan
