In car entertainment...

I'm getting ready to build my "carputer". It will be an Epia 800 system with 256 megs of ram not settled on a hard drive for it yet but will be using a slimline laptop DVD drive. I'm considering one of these http://www.softwareandstuff.com/h_mon_unisys105lcd.html as a video panel..not decided yet. My car has a Sony Xplode head unit in it so has inputs available.
I might use an Acer Airkey keyboard/mouse unit to controll it..or do a controll with a laptop "add on" numeric pad.
Hoping for the best and starting with an inverter instead of an Opus DC/DC supply (too much money for me..) If I find problems with the inveter I'll try the procedure that involved removing the comps PSU's filter circuit seen here http://mp3swift.magnetikonline.com/hardware_doc.php

It seems there is allways "Another project" just waiting to be done

if I recall correctly that display is not very bright
marginal for a car?

that screen looks like a great dea for 800x600 resoultion--cant be beat.. i use an inverter in all my car pc installs and i do not have noise... no buzzing humming anything.. i dont think it is necssary to mod the inverter to get rid of noise--- i even used the cheapo 20 dollar one from newegg and its works great

how do the navi systems and stuff like that, work on luxury cars. I mean they haev to work in the winter as well. How do they keep them warm enough to use?
