Improving the Linkwitz Phoenix?

I don't consider Richards as a competent speaker designer. He has opinions/mantras of which some are ok but most not - to me. Audio Index - Bob Richards

ayebee. do you have measurement system yet? Making changes to a speaker, measuring it also off-axis hor/vert up to 180deg, room response and listening helps you to know and understand how radiation patterns and room interact and sound. It is easy for you to start with Phoenix.

Dipole placement and room reflectivess work together. Easiest way to get better imaging and clarity is to sit closer to speakers - more direct sound! Applies to all speakers!

I see your point. It was no attempt to compare credentials.

Well, yes (and no). I have equipment, but I’m not quite sure about quality/reliability. (It’s mainly for bass management, but has FR capabilities as well.)

That I cannot argue with! 🙂

Hi planet10! Ever since I first came in contact with the Audio Critic web-zine I've been blissfully ignoring my amps. 😀 Jokes aside, I use nothing special (a Rotel 6-channel power amp), but I have worse problems in my signal path, namely the dac:s after my nanoDIGI. They must go.

Bu just to reiterate: I'm not at all displeased with the general sound of my "sort of Phoenixes". It's just that my curiosity has gotten the better of me, and I intuitively "feel" that the transition between the dual 8-inchers and the tweeter could be improved with a Waveguide... Hence my original question. 🙂
