Improving JAMO D265 C speakers on the cheap

Another observation I have made: These speakers are very power hungry. They are supposed to be quite efficient, but my Wharfedale Diamonds play a lot louder given the same power and they are supposed to be only 86db/2.83V/m while the Jamos are (supposedly) over 90 db. But the Jamos just seem to suck up power without getting much louder. Drivers seem fine, can’t find any faults. Could a failed crossover component cause this or are they just that much less sensitive?

The only other thing worth doing is to replace the 2.2uF and 3.3uF NP electrolytic capacitors.

You may like to try the effect of substituting polypropylene speaker crossover capacitors.

If you don't like the results, try new NP electrolytic capacitors instead - they're not expensive, so you could order them along with the polyprops.
