Hi
I have a Fisher 800C and am trying to determine where I should place the Impedance selector switch if I hook up 2 pairs of 8? speakers.
It seems to me it should stay at 8?'s as the 800C has 2 distinct banks
for connection and a speaker select switch for a or b or a+b.
However some folks say that it would drop the load to 4? as you would be paralleling the load.
Can any Fisher owners help?

Just because you have terminals for two sets of loudspeakers doesn't mean that the amplifier can automatically cope with the change from one 8R loudspeaker to a pair of 8R loudspeakers in parallel. Set the amplifier to match to 4R. Even if you only use one 8R loudspeaker, the loss in power is generally quite small, but the reduction in distortion can often be quite large.
