maybe shouldnt pay much attention to that forum, theres a post just below where someone recommends a pre from a company called moon.... costs a mere $9000 🙂

I think ive found a solution, I was looking to upgrade my DAC anyway and things have moved on a bit since my last purchase.
If I get one of these I can select between the bluetooth input (which I'm currently using to get audio from my PS4 into the audio system - using a bluetooth transmitter / receiver pair) and the USB from my laptop which is how I stream my high quality music into the system.
I can completely remove the switch and attenuator from the system, thus removing the impedance bottleneck.

This DAC beats my current one in every single spec and measurement, it also puts out a very healthy 4 volts and I can control the switching and volume from a remote. its win, win, win.
