I run these subs in my car and I'm quite pleased with the unit. It's extremely accurate and musical, yet never afraid to get surprisingly loud.
I'm wondering if my spare would make a good home sub? (It's gotta do something while the other 2 are out having fun at comps)
Information on the sub can be found here: http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/website/products/IDMAX.html
And a spec sheet: http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/website/tech/data_sheet_idmaxd4.html
Opinions greatly appreciated, and enclosure suggestions would be even better.

If they model ok, give them a try, but the suggested boxes probably wouldn't work as you think they sould in a home enviroment, unless it's a very small room.
I hadn't planned on using the tech-sheet enclosures. At least not the ported or free-air apps. I did consider a nice 1.7 - 2.3 cube sealed box for home. Though that's why I was asking for enclosure ideas... I've got very little experience out of the car environment.
You have to be careful with auto subs... they are most often more expensive than similar performance drivers targeted at the home DIY market.

I guess I wasn't exactly clear... I already have the sub, it's a spare from my CA install... for when one of the others has to go on "vacation" (I don't like to call it a "Damn... blew that sub to hell, better send it back to CA for a recone" I feel that it scares the other one into blowing🙂) I'm just wondering if I can get some use out of the spare rather than having it sit in its pretty box, and possibly save some money along the way.
The woofer has an excellent throw with 200 - 300 watts in the car environment (even better with the 1500RMS I put to them
) I was thinking that a 250 - 300 watt plate amp could give it a nice push, and fill in the lower octaves in my setup. I guess I'll just have to give it a try and let you know how it goes. I am still open to suggestions on an enclsure though.
