That's funny, in french : Manger means: to Eat !
I would sell the Mangers as a dartsboards for some expensive hifi bars in Japan for a cool beers and darts audiophile party ! 2 points if you throw the dart into the voice coil perimeter ! Most expensive dartboard ever ! And as global warming act as returning them at the company ! You keep the one that works and makes an AM Radio with it 🙂

You guys crack me up. This reminds me of my first 3D printer I bought which I had to bring back to Frys 3 times, when I got one that didn't have a bad control board. You'd expect that from a cheap Chinese product and I wouldn't have had a depressing day if it happened.
When you're dealing with a high end boutique speaker drivers which are hand made, tested and matched, then you expect a precision designed and engineered product which is backed by a promise that it will work as expected. Its bad enough that something which is (supposed to be) QCed a bunch of times in the process of manufacturing, but its worse when the company won't back it up after you've spent ALOT of money. This is why you want to deal with small businesses in the first place that usually bend over backwards to make it right.
The last time I got this upset about something bad out of the box, I would have raised hell until I got some action from the manufacturer. In some cases I would have paid a visit to the people in question. When its oversees, you don't have much recourse.
I rarely have problems with the cheaper drivers I buy. In fact they're better than ever these days and more consistent than the expensive stuff. The main issue is when things are discontinued, but then you just buy a few spares and you're set in case something goes sour. That's what I did with those Peerless NE180Ws when I found out they were going away, but they just don't fail.
Lately the only things which I had problems with are expensive, hand made small production run items. Those T34Bs were also a huge hassle. It took me forever to get that somewhat straightened out and I certainly learned my lesson.
All this is why I favor companies like Yamaha, Sennheiser, B&C, Eminence, JBL etc. They just make great stuff and you can get parts in case stuff fails.
Other brands like SB Acoustics, Peerless, etc make great stuff, but you can't get recone kits or diaphragms for them. I guess its not that cheap to make tweeters with user serviceable VCs. Glueing everything together is cheaper than making small sub-assemblies and selling them.
