About that "ringing" (no directivity) at 7-8kHz - I believe that it is an acoustic phenomenom which appears in rigid coned drivers and obviously with horns too.
Take a look at Flaesh's directivity measurements. At 7kHz there is a small dip at = and low angles and upper on we see the directivity increasing (beaming). It would be better seen if curves were matched.
Here is a very typical aluminium cone directivity, look the onset of beaming around 2kHz.
