I'll add "Show me threads by people I ignore, but only the responses from people who I am not ignoring", as a selectable option, to the wish list. Along with the "show footsteps or not" option.I have just discovered a significant thread which is invisible to me because the thread starter is is on my ignore list.
I would have expected a thread with holes in it, not completely vanished.
I can certainly understand XF's approach that threads started by people you want to ignore shouldn't be shown, as I think that's what most forums and most people would want. Short ephemeral posts, rarely long discussions. diyAudio is a bit different from most forums where we have long running, detailed threads. If you can't read the first post, how could you work out what everyone else is talking about?
Those things can be phase 2 items, and will probably take some custom coding. Both would be neat additions for diyAudio.
For now, in terms of what is actually not working as designed out-of-the-box, am I correct that the only issue is direct links are showing the post?
When an ignored person quotes himself, the text is not blocked.am I correct that the only issue is direct links are showing the post?
Yes, self-quote is rare, but idiots do rare things.
@PRR can you give an example of this?
I had a look at the post mentioned in post #5 of this thread which is https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/dac-project-suggestions.385167/#post-6995924 however that appears to just be the existing bug of the software showing a post if it's a direct link and the "Show ignored post" link doing nothing (likely because the content is already shown).
If an ignored person makes any post it won't be shown (once the above bug is fixed), regardless of what they post.
If we need to scan for and detect quotes, of ignored users, inside other people's posts, that's something to roll into the "enhanced ignore" plugin that would need to be written (and seems like a fair idea if it keeps our members sane).

I'm going offline for the weekend. IAC I think my ignoree choices should not be shown in public. PM me (or remind me how to PM you).@PRR can you give an example of this?
I'll email you and we can chat over email about it. Thanks for your help. I have PMs turned off in the forum as otherwise I get flooded.
Just looping back on this. Per my understanding posted in https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/ignore-functionality-not-working-well.383381/post-7102554 I believe this bug has now been fixed (it was fixed around a week after this discussion was last active).
I am marking this bug as resolved, then. If there is any other commentary on the ignore feature feel free to post it here, I think the only thing for the future is develop our own custom "super ignore" plugin that let's people choose between either seeing the ignored person's "footsteps" (posts made and threads started), or not seeing them at all.
