The following images are of an extracted transport mech from a 2006 "budget" Toshiba SD-3990 CD/DVD player.
Anyone know what the maunf/model may be of the transport mech may be?
NOTE: Damping compound was applied to many parts of the mech, but none seem to covering identif. marks. A white sticker on the back of the tray has number: 3060717

Sanyo SF-HD850M ????
I think the purchase price of the Toshiba SD-3990 was $50.00 USD at a typical Best Buy.
Toshiba is major electronics manuf. So not sure wither the transport is their own design or outsourced.
Looks very similar to other manuf's mechs. E.g., this Sanyo [SF-HD850/M Original New Sanyo Laser Lens + Mechanism SF-HD850M]. Images from eBay. About $38.00 USD for new, in-box unit.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Okay, another Toshiba SD-3990 came into the shop. This one has no ugly damping material all over it.
So ... who is Toshiba using for their drive supplier?
