I'm guessing he's not knowledgeable regarding the Mercator projection, and probably is overestimating the size of what he wants to buy.
Not the first time to overestimate size I'd guess.....
Sure but less Greenland. Don't forget the melting glaciers also raise sea level, so not only the volume of Greenland diminishes, so does the area.
But with the rising global temperatures, wouldn’t more of what’s left be likely to actually turn green? Think of the golf courses and casinos one could build.

Certainly wouldn’t be the first time he’s done that - just ask Melania, or reputedly, Miss Clifford . As much fun as it’d be to take the diversionary bait with which occupant #45 is trolling us, to continue could easily create a nightmare for this forum’s moderators, for both salacious and political content.
Discussing the unprecedented and accelerating rate of Greenland’s ice melt does bring up the question of by how much it’s central land mass would rebound.
How much would the Greenland landmass isostatic rebound contribute to long term climate change? - Earth Science Stack Exchange
While it’s child’s play to find interactive maps of projected change in coastlines with varying degrees of ice sheet melt, by how much the land masses they currently cover might rise is much trickier I think.
IIRC correctly, Greenland and Mexico are similar in size.the Mercator projection
IIRC correctly, Greenland and Mexico are similar in size.
Coincidence??
IIRC correctly, Greenland and Mexico are similar in size.
Pretty close - in millions of sq kilometres; Canada 9.985, Australia 7.692, Greenland 2.166, Mexico 1.973.
