ICEPower Tympani High Frequency Panels

Hello all,

I have Maggie Tympani IVa speakers, and I have a pair of 1000ASP on bass Panels (perfect match BTW), and I have two 500A modules that I was planning on "hanging" on the 1000ASP for the Mid/High panel.

I have been thinking of using a single (or a pair) 125ASX2 for the Mid/High panel instead, as I don't think I really need the power of the 500A, and the 125ASX2 has protection circuitry the 500A does not.

I know that all the ICEPowers have a bit of roll off getting up past 10k, but wonder if anyone has any advice on which would likely sound best. Very happy with the 1000ASP on the bass panels...

The gain on the 1000ASP is 27, 500A is 27, and the 125ASX2 is 24, but my active crossover should correct this issue...

I have a great deal of experience with all those modules. To my ears the 125ASX2 is the best sounding module of them in the midrange and treble, while the 1000ASP offers the best bass.

Both 500A and 125ASX rolls off somewhat at 20 kHz, around 2 dB depending on the load impedance.

The gain when using balanced signal is 6 dB higher that stated in the datasheets for 1000ASP, the real value is 33 dB. 500A has 27 dB gain with balanced input, and 125ASX2 is 30 dB.

125ASX2 is single-ended by nature, but if you bridge it you can use balanced input of course.

The 30 dB gain I mention in my previous post is when the module is brigded.

250ASX2 sound more or less the same as 125ASX2.

If I do the 125ASX2, I will keep it SE, as I don't have the room for two 125ASX2 modules, or just hold out for a single 250ASX2..

I also have a pair of 250A, but the lowest a 1000ASP can "hang" is a pair of 500A...voltage (80V) is too high for the 250A (50V).

Maybe I will just make it easy and drop in a 125ASX2
