you can use supercapacitor by themself tho they are a few things to watch out for and imo the ian canada board mostly add convenience and a plug&play solution
take a look here: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/sup...ucts-and-possibly-other-manufacturers.966163/
while supercapacitors if they are empty can overload your power supply, most if not all power supplys will handle it fine from what i read and in the inital charging phase the supercapacitors will suck up all current, so your device cant be powered until the capacitors are full, so best to pre charge the supercapacitors before you plug the power supply into your device

Hi All,.
I am a noob and need some help here, I have the UcConditioner 5V currently running, and very happy with it.
Now I think about re-arranging my setup, before I am going to disconnect everything do I need to discharge the super caps and what would be the easiest way and most of all safest way of doing this. Is it as simple as shorting it with a power resistor? And if so should I directly short it on the supercap or can I short it on the 5VDC output J6 +/-?
Please advice.
Cheers
