Has anybody modified (or has plans to modify) a Proceed CDD (or similar transport) to support the I2S-interface standard. The transport supports SPDIF and AES/EBU and I expect that the I2S interface wil improve the output of the Proceed DAC (or of cause other DAC), assumed it has the I2S interface.
I performed some investigation by opening the CDD and on the internet, with the following results:
The Proceed CDD has a Philips CDM12-IND drive inside. There are 5-power regulators
, three 7805CT one 7809 and one 7808. They all use low priced caps and resistors (as I can see). I havent yet ‘found out which parts of the design each regulatore is linked to.
I also couldn’t trace the crystal frequency, also I know the digital output is buffered and re-clocked.
On the internet I found that the CDM12-IND drive is compatible with the Philips CD-PRO (http://www.daisy-laser.com/cdpro.htm), which supports I2S-output. So does this mean I can conclude the CDM12-IND also supports the I2S-standard, so yes I can’t find anything on the web about the pin-layout of the connectors on the CDM12 module or the CD-Pro module.
Besides the I2S-interface that I would like to incorporate in the CDD, I have the idea to improve the Power supplies, although I don’t yet know which one to start and what design to use. I do know I it should be clean (especially no high frequency noise).
Any suggestions/help

Hi Calimero...
I have sime question for my CDM12.1 from steinmusic...Where to find I2S...
after some search on the web I found this page
http://www.geocities.com/koalavilla/audio_transport.htm
where they say that I2S is taken directli from SAA7310 ...
here is SAA7310 data sheet
http://members.xoom.virgilio.it/hi_fi/q7310.htm
from what I can see that I2S should be on pin 2,3,4 (DAAB,CLAB,WSAB / data, clock, word select ), but I am not shure...I'am not EE...
can someone please confurm this ,or am I wrong ?
Maybe yours CDM12 have sime IC on board and you can use this information ...
