I want to experiment by replacing the USB input on my DIY dac with a direct I2S input. I am assuming that I can output from a streamer using the pink faun I2S bridge that you see here:
Pink Faun High End Audio bridge | Pink Faun
And feed the signal directly to the I2S input on either my Iancanada FIFO board or indeed, straight onto the Twisted Pear DAC board.
I'm sure I could butcher an HDMI cable and work out which cable should connect to the SCK, LRCK and SD u.fl connectors but it would be much more elegant to use a PCB that adapts one of the more commonly used I2S input sockets (eg ethernet, HDMI etc) and adapts to u.fl headers which I could then bridge across to the next board.
I'm assuming that there probably isn't a standard pinout which will be the next hurdle but has anyone attempted similar and/or seen such a board for sale?
cheers,
Crom

Ian has a board to isolate and provide u.fl connectors to a Raspberry Pi or Odroid C2:
Something cool for Raspberry Pi/ODROID: I2S/DSD isolator HAT with native DSD decoder
You would have to check with Ian to see if he has any in stock.
He also has one planned with built-in fifo.

Thanks for your message. I have all the isolation/reclocking taken care of. In my head I have something as simple as a board with an HDMI or RJ45 socket on one side and then some traces across to three u.fl headers.
I am assuming here that the I2S that is coming out of the pink faun card is compatible with the I2S that needs to go into the FIFO card or the DAC board ... I haven't heard that there are different sorts (apart from multi-channel etc).

Interesting. I just found this post. Perhaps this is why you recommended the isolator board: http://bbb.ieero.com/
?
?
I use Ian's board between an Odroid C2 and Ian FIFO. I like it because it takes USB out of the signal path. I have also removed Ian's Isolator from between the FIFO and Clockboard since the interface board has isolation.
I also like the simplicity of the set-up, and the low cost of the Odroid/Ian I2S combo too.
I tried to find more information about the Pink Faun Audio Bridge on the web but there does not seem to be much information out there. The Pink Faun website does not provide much at all.

Something like this: I2S to HDMI I2S Module Board - Audiophonics there are a number of other similar boards as well.
Just keep in mind that i2s signals do not travel well so the shorter the distance the better.

Hi Ben Mah, I've done a lot of reading tonight and thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I've just bought a C2 (I've already got Ian's isolator hat from the last group buy when I upgraded my FIFO) and I'm going to give your solution a whirl!
I'm pretty sure I'm going to use DietPI (which is also available for C2) and I'm going to install it as an HQPlayer NAA as that will allow me to compare it most accurately against my current USB solution.
Thanks again and I'll report back!

I'm interested too in a "new" input, alternative to usb.
I don't understand how hdmi input works.
My goal is to acquire vinyl in real time, and i would like to use an i2s to hdmi adapter
from audiophonics - like the one in above thread.
But then, where i have to plug the hdmi cable on the pc side?
I like raspberryPi et cetera, but i need more power to perform riaa and convolution with jriver in real time, otherwise i would go with raspberryPi.
