On the other hand, I don't think it should be too difficult to buy four bottles of these, drink them and then fill the empty bottles your own rakija. You only need to make a proper cap...

Just buy the biggest version of this bottle, add a broom stick and a few strings and call it your banjo, tell customs that the liquid inside is important to the tone, the more you drink from it, the better it sounds 😀

OK - I have sent off an email to US Customs and asked if home made Schnapps is allowed in. The regulation sez 1 liter of distilled spirits is allowed - and more if ya wanna pay some tax - but doesn't address anything about home made stuff. Maybe it IS allowed??

Hmmmmm.......... ask question of government official - I might have an answer in three or four months. I can say things like that - I used to be a government official. 😱

naah

that isn't so big deal

they will allow me to bring in , or will not allow ;

Yes - this is the best way. Juz be honest with 'em and if they let it in then they let it in. Fur sure the way NOT to go is to try and slip something past them or BS 'em. They can spot a BSer like a Mama sniffing out a fib from a 5 year old - and that just simply pissessss 'em off.

I completely agree and endorse the above.Just be straight declare any surplus and they just may wave you through! Its small fry.Try to smuggle and they could make life unpleasant...on a point of principle.

I don't think you can bring in opened bottles of alcohol. Also, if missing a tax stamp then would be illegal in the US. You can't legally make or posses alcohol in the US unless it or you have a tax stamp from the BATF, of course we can brew beer and make wine but only certain amounts legally. Its complicated. I would not try as it could cause all kinds of legal issues. You might get a customs agent that charges you with smuggling. I'm talking hard liquer.

:rofl:

I should decide these days will I bottle it in commercial bottles , or simply bring nuke with me , as less troublesome option .

Wellllllllllll - I gotta answer back from US Customs -😎

Thank you for contacting US Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Unfortunately, homemade alcohol is not permitted in the US since it is not commercially sealed and labeled appropriately.

I would ask 'em about da nuke buuuuuuut I don't wanna be on their wiseass list for da rest of my life so I'll leave that up to you. 😀😀😀

I have to say, if I were making the trip I think I would probably leave it out. I have done it from the US into the UK. The level of suspician is much lower for me that it is guarenteed to be for the likes of a crazy Serbian.:joker:

Yeah, I fly so rarely that it is really not an issue. It is even more rare that I cary homebrew on a plane. But then again, if I can dig up the money to make it out to burning amp this year, I may have to stuff a bottle of homebrew mead or cider in my bag. It is not exactly legal to cary that across state lines either, but I've never even heard of those laws being inforced. Once again, a nice bottle topper and a label off a bottle of something commercial and all is will with TSA.
