That's an OK amplifer. If you have the $350 for a new one, I would spend an extra $50 and get the Tapco J-2500. Same design, a bigger/better power supply.
Mine is the recently discontinued USA series.
Which would you rather have:
Four pair of A1943/C5200 (plastic, 150W, 150°C max, 50W SOA at 80V) and a rail switch.
Or:
Eight pair of MJ15024/25 (metal, 250W, 200°C max, 160W SOA at 80V). The later ones actually had the MJ211XX parts, better SOA at higher voltages (240W SOA at 80V).

@shadiedog87
For example a pair of this ones can take 900 Watt and can deliver you btw a new hairstyle ... 😀
Which sensitivity at 1W/1m (3.3ft) does your speakers have ?
Model, Any more specs ?
How big is your room you will place them in, or is it for free air, outside ?
How loud (120, 130, 140 dB?) will you hear "music ?" in the room you place the drivers ? To think about the pain threshold is starting @ 115dB .... IMHO for your ears.
And I don't think you'll need that much power. Better sell them and save some more money and buy some new high efficient chassis
then the amp might get much smaller !
i want to make an amplifier to support 1800 watts max .... the drivers r 15" 900W each

Hi shadiedog87,
djk has made you a very good offer. I'd take him up on it from what I've read so far. I also know he's not kidding, a straight shooter if you will.
Please work on your typing when you post. On the internet, you are how you post, so ...... I'll accept that we might be a little more demanding than many other forums, but I call it respect for your fellow members.

shadiedog87 said:the drivers are an off brand they were cheap. theyre for home stereo the coil is standad surprised when i got it because they sounded so big. I guess i could go with a smaller amp but i have 2 of them and would like them to thump. and i had a post in pass labs and chip amp and others but kept getting redirected till class d amps and solid state there was little info on them i just bought them brand new heard big #'s n little price so couldnt loose but still never got to here them bang. 1.8kW`total so how big should i go n maybe 900W is the max not to sure i've been into electronics since i was a kid and stuck to it sry for the lingo but when i type on the computer its like a dif' language lol. im def' a newbie building small things as small crossovers n converters but i dont know how to make anything from scratch i need schematics and info like lables R1=1.5k R2=3.4k ect.
Dog,
You still haven't told me what speakers they are. Can't you even take a picture? If you can't provide even this simple stuff, then I'd suggest you don't even think about trying to build something - I certainly won't recommend you play with any sort of live electricity form your responses so far.
Take up djk's offer. Those pro amps can produce some serious power and are generally designed to run pretty hot (ie. close to their rated power) for long periods. But I'm thinking that the speakers you've got have been seriously overstated by the person you bought them from and you'll probably be melting some voice-coils fairly shortly. Until you can show me some real info on them, that is...
damn you people really respond fast i cant even keep up with it and its my thread lol um idk all the technical info like the 3.3ft and such but the brand is som b.a.s.s. series i dont have a pic but let me look on the web n ill post it if i see it. DJK im interested in that amp you offerd but wut would the payment be accepted by check or money order ur call and how worth it is it for that amp because that sounds like a reasonable price if you aint pullen my leg and i do try and keep up with the thread but you ppl live on here lol i see djk all over the fourms this is a cool crowd ta hang around i can learn alot of things and to become an engineer what info should i look about because im goin to school for this kind of stuff soon like itt tech or sum institute or university do you recommend a certain school. i can solder and make pcb's and follow instructions but cant build from scratch i i know resistors resist power or amperage or ohms and trasistors store energy and coils change frequency rite correct me if im wrong and if you have any other info and like a cheap starter project that will actually be usable and when i make the box should i keep it closed or woofer or open back and or put the drivers on facin in and 1 out or one inside the box or is that all about prefrences
because Shadie said his speakers can take 900W each.
So, is that 900 watts figured with pink noise as a rating? Is that 900 watts peak rating or is that 900 watts RMS?
This sounds so much like a joke that it isn't even funny.
Just to give an example here.. a particular Altec speaker from the past had a rating of 250 watts max. This speaker had a long term rating of 60 watts with pink noise. So how does one make sense of speaker ratings and do speaker rating mean that you have to have an amplifier in that range?
Ever go to to stereo sale at your local civic center that is usually held once a year? Ever notice those wonderful car stereo drivers being sold that are rated at 400 or 500 watts that feature a 3/4" voice coil? Were you smart enough to leave them on the tables and not purchase them? If you were than consider this thread as 100% BS and walk away. If you considered these drivers as the true items then please go ahead and enlighten me.
Please do show me pictures as well as specifications on these remarkable speakers that are so able to handle the power you wish to put them to.
Maybe you should purchase some efficient speakers that are capable of high SPL levels and an amplifier that is capable of driving them and still staying together.
I will suggest that you place them 6' apart with yourself in the middle and crank the snot out of them for several hours. If after your listening period is over and you can still hear maybe some common sense might have filtered into your head.

The speakers can't take 900 watts. But neither can a Kappa P15LF, but this would be about the right size amplifier to use with it. An amp that can deliver 900W/ch sinewave (for a few minutes) can only really be used to deliver between 100-200 watts or real RMS power before distortion gets to silly levels.
I do agree that shadie needs to just buy dkj's USA1310. I have two of them myself. Building an amp in this power class (or higher) is a house fire waiting to happen unless you know exactly what you're doing.

does this only apply to 900W/ch amplifiers or do you intend that we scale the figures and apply your conclusion to all amplifiers? An amp that can deliver 900W/ch sinewave (for a few minutes) can only really be used to deliver between 100-200 watts or real RMS power before distortion gets to silly levels.
eg. an amp that can deliver 450W/ch sinewave (for a few minutes) can only really be used to deliver between 50-100 watts of real RMS power before distortion gets to silly levels.
Is that what you intend us to believe?

Hi Andrew,
John is referring to the land of car amps and off-brand "mega amps". You misunderstood him I think.
Hi Andy,
Hi shadiedog87,
All right. Let's take a breath and type in complete, delineated sentences please. Use that knowledge you were forced to learn in grade school! Have you any idea how difficult it is to read what you post?
Please show some respect (that's what it comes down to) to your fellow members here. Also, many people on this forum do not speak English as a first language. They make a large effort to post in English and what you are doing is extremely disrespectful towards them.
