Hi there, I would like to experiment with running balanced lines. I have some tube buffered gainclone boards on order. They have only SE outs so I assume I will need some kind of SE to Balanced converter or transmitter. I have looked around & haven't found too much that has interested me. I hope some one can point me in the right direction, I would like to look at both opamp or tube converters. Also will I need a receiver at the speaker, I understand how balanced audio works in theory but I'm not sure and haven't been able to find how it connects or subtracts the two lines at the speaker.
Thanks
Ryan

Have a look at Nelson's website www.passdiy.com. The articles section has lots of great content discussing how balanced operation works and it's advantage.
In particular read his article on the BOSOZ balanced line stage preamp. The BOSOZ makes an excellent balanced to unbalanced converter in either direction.
It would allow you to have balanced sources connecting to an unbalanced chip amp. Search for Metalman's thread in the Pass forum for the balanced susy chip amps as well.
