I*really* want to remove Kester 44 flux - what do I need to buy?

I know you don't have to remove it but I just hate looking at it if nothing else. Plus it gets in the way of rework.

What will get this off nice and clean? I'm constrained for the need for 'hobbyist quantity' and don't want a gallon can of anything. Thanks...

Go to your local electronic component pusher and buy a can of flux remover. MG Chemicals makes one. There's also Flux-Off from Chemtronics. Mouser P/N: 5168-ES1035. There's a similar one for no-clean flux.

The flux removers sometimes leave a film behind. That can be removed with water.

I happen to use Kester 44 sometimes and it indeed can leave a bit of residu. When it’s fresh just use IPA, if it’s old and really dried out you can use acetone but look out with the surroundings. Acetone can desolve printed ink and plastics.
