What type of bulb? 600Watt halogen? What is your setup like, OHP, is one of the problems light leakage or what type of room are you projecting in?
Check out the thread "cooling a DYS bulb" as it has some DYS setup owners posting in it about things other then just cooling it.
Check for light leakage, and you might want to make an enclosure for it, so that their is little light leakage.
I heard of some people painting their lenses black around the LCD screen to block all light and to only allow the light to pass thru to the LCD, I don't know about that though, and wouldn't try it without another lens (you can get them from office depot as "page magnifiers") handy.
And MORE light? DYS bulbs output around 17,000 lumens, it doesn't have a fancy reflector setup, but even so, thats alot of light. Are you having problems with BRIGHTNESS or with contrast and colors?

I haven't seen home depot page magnifiers, but if they are the same cheap *** fresnels that we get in chemists here as page magnifiers don't even bother trying to use one in a projector.
btw a dys has 17,000 initial lumens (a little 250watt hqi has 20,000). this doesn't mean you have a 17,000 lumen ohp, probably more like 2000-3000 will come out of it.

i am using a white plastic shower curtain ($1.95) at wall mart. i realized that i was losing a lot of light straight thriugh it on to an off white wall so i went out and bought a dark green shower curtain ($1.00) to put behind the white one and my picture is greatly improved.
as for my light issue, i don't get a lot of light lose because my panel covers the whole projector lens, so maybe this is the best i can do without changing the lamp?

you should try some blackout cloth for your screen.
I've got a buhl 80... I don't think theres any way to improve the old tin can short of a new MH light setup.

Yeah, using a white curtian like that thats not flush with the wall can loose alot of light thru it. Blackout cloth is pretty good stuff, and you can get it from JoAnn's or any other fabric store, it's not on display, however, so just ask for it. People use it for curtains.
I used a hanging sheet the first day I got my setup running, it looked HORRIBLE, until I saw the picture was going right thru it to the wall, which looked better even though it's blue! So I went to a fabric store, and got the blackout cloth, ten times better.

try Anti glare removal

If you don't have a fabric store in your area, you can order blackout cloth here. I ordered mine and they shipped the same day. It is only 5.95 a yard for 54" width and with shipping you could have a 54" x 72" screen for under $20 if you order 2 yards
